Flourish My Dear

Priorities

Messy bedroom with unmade bed and pillows on floor

I wouldn’t say I’ve totally given up on keeping a clean house. But it’s certainly moved down the priority list. My husband and I were reminiscing the other day about our early married years when every Saturday morning, all morning, we would clean house. Everything was cleaned, including light fixtures. And cleaning my vinyl kitchen floor meant me on all fours with a scrub brush.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Now a quick sweep with the dust mop once every couple of weeks and I call it good. You’d think now that I’m retired, I’d have plenty of time to clean. And you’d be right, I do have enough time. However, I’m choosing to spend that time on more important things - like writing, reading, exercising or just taking a nap.

How do you choose to spend your time? What is the most important thing in your life right now? I seriously doubt it’s a clean house. Whatever that, or those, important things are, make them your priority and let the house cleaning go for another day. You'll never reach your goals if you don't take the time to work on them.

Besides, dust bunnies are quite harmless.
